My tomatoes are good at re-arranging themselves around the jar but not so good at jumping into it!
An Apple a Day #1
I love my days out in the orchard watching the apples ripening and the blue sky framing the fruit.
Persimmon and Limes
After a short hiatus from painting I thought it was time to get some zing back into my life and what better colours than orange and lime to add some extra cheerfulness.
Apple a Day #2
I was so excited to finally conquer my fear of red that I did a series of apple paintings.

Tomato Sauce in Waiting #1 (Ketchup to my non-NZ friends)
I love my Agee jars, the smaller ones are the perfect size for preserving. They're also the perfect size for procrastinating and painting them instead of filling them.
Oil on Gessobord (Ampersand) 6" x 6"
Clear Glass on Colored Cardboard
I have a thing about jars and glass. I love the way the light bends and takes on the color of the surroundings.
Oil on Gessobord (Ampersand) 6" x 6"
My Green Vase
I adore this little vase that was given to me as a gift. The glass is chunky and refracts the light in unusual ways.
Oil on Gessobord (Ampersand) 6" x 6"
Can be viewed at Eastend Cafe, Wairoa, NZ
Black Eyed Daisies
My husband only sees the weeds and the un-kept edges in our garden; all I see are the lovely surprises that pop up their heads and liven my day in my garden wilderness. I especially loved the way these daisies added a small boost of color and lovely shadows as the light fell on them through my window.
Beauty is in the Eye...Original Study Oil on Gessobord 6"x 6"
Patch was on our front doorstep not long after we moved to our new home. I was not used to dogs and I was unsure what he was like. Turns out he's the gentlest dog you could wish for and his owners were happy to know that when he ran away he could be found at our place.

PRETTY BOY - Original Study Oil on Gessobord 6"x 6"
We were sold this fellow as a hen - he didn't lay many eggs!
SOLD
PENNY - Original Study Oil on Gessobord 6"x 6"
This is one chook with attitude. All my hens are free range but this one stays out at night and lays her eggs wherever she feels like.
SOLD
LONELY STEER - Original Study Oil on Gessobord 6"x 6"
I'm never 100% sure that this steer is friendly. I approach it with caution but when I look into its eyes I think it is very sad and probably likes some company.
SOLD
COY COW - Original Study Oil on Gessobord 6"x 6" (Sold)
CONTENTED COW - SOLD
One of my first "Daily Painting" studies. This lovely cow is in a paddock very near my home and I regularly say hello on my walks. She has the most beautiful eyes with lashes that catch the light when it is low in the sky.
I mentioned this painting to a friend this morning and realised that I hadn't posted on this blog in years! Indeed nearly as long ago as I painted this painting.
It was during the 2007 K2 race that I took this cyclist's photo but at the time I wasn't thrilled with the results. I wanted to portray the sense of movement and the cyclist's glance as his fellow competitors caught up with him on the Kuoatunu Wharekaho hill so I decided a painting was in order and I created this in a semi-abstract manner, deliberately blurring some details but still reflecting this moment - a moment that I'm sure all competitive people can relate to. I didn't hold out much hope that I would ever sell this painting as it was so "personal" and represented someone I didn't even know but I hung it in our local cafe - Cafe Coghill - and within a week a woman walked into the cafe and said' "that's my husband" and she purchased it! If only it was always that easy.
